The contribution of the Hearttune Music to the improvement of HRV score in healthy subjects

The study was based on a student sample that I teach in local college. The procedure they go through is quite similar to our protocol in Smart Heart program:

a)      We first give them some psychoeducation about stress and its impact

b)      We then teach them muscle relaxation and let them work at home with the EDA stand alone sensor

c)       The major part involves the usage of the HRV sensor (Freeze framer fro Heart Math Version 1.1) they are taught to control it via correct breathing
d)      And later by some mental exercise like Mantra, Mindfulness and Meichnbaum-based CBT.
All the students are asked to practice the relaxation techniques while individually measuring their HRV at the college psychophysiology lab.


there were two group of subjects: the first group (n=17) was taught the basic relaxation technique as described above. The second group (n=25) was exposed to exactly the same techniques yet at the last block of teaching they were also introduced to the Heart Tune concept and music, They heard one version of music alone, and two versions of Hebrew speaking heart tune "song". After this exposure they received by e-mail the music and they were asked to practice it at home and then to come to the laboratory on an individual basis and measure their HRV.


Based on Heart Math system we measured The Coherence Ratio. The information presented below is based on the measurement of high coherence level ratios for each of the sessions.
